The Staff Accountant position is a key member of our Accounting and Finance Team. The position is based in the Calverton, MD office park, near Silver Spring & College Park, Maryland. Job Summary: The Staff Accountant plays an integral role within the Accounting and Finance Team, under the guidance and direction of the Manager of Accounting. Responsibilities include: a. Manage A/P including verifying & entering charges and credits for vendor accounts. b. Perform reconciliations including, bank accounts and credit card statements. c. Assist with monthly close process. d. Manage cash receipt expensing. e. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures. f. Provide timely and accurate reporting, including expense report management. g. Assist in providing employee support and training specific to Staff Accountant functions. Required qualifications: 1. 3+ years of accounting and A/P experience, ideally in a professional services organization. 2. Highly proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office. 3. Exceptionally detail oriented and committed to accuracy of work product. 4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 6. Proven experience resulting in accurate and timely expense reporting processes. 7. Experience reconciling accounts: bank and credit card statements. 8. Ability to prioritize tasks, including ability to handle multiple, simultaneous deadlines. 9. Willingness to "do what it takes" to get the job done.
