Data Science Product Manager
The Challenge:

As a data science product manager, you will be responsible for guiding a team of data scientists to evolve and expand upon an established data science environment. Currently, the team has a set of data science algorithms to help detect sentiment and model topics, predict emerging topics free-text comments, predict which topics have the most statistically significant impact on the Key Performance Indicators of the agency, and unsupervised topic modeling to detect new topics or phrases. The team uses these algorithms to help respond to ad-hoc requests from the agency by analyzing the existing dataset of over 1.5 million free-text responses to extract and identify relevant insights.

The client is now looking to mature this data science environment beyond just responding to ad-hoc requests. The data science team is looking to begin developing a portfolio of data science products to help the client expand the team's data science reach into other offices within the agency and improve upon the data science services currently offered by the client. This will require strategizing where to prioritize future work, identifying how to expand the team's infrastructure, working with the client to help brainstorm their vision, and understanding how to build upon the team's existing set of algorithms and products. The team is responsible for building solutions to effectively and efficiently analyze feedback to help senior agency leadership and stakeholders understand key trends, insights, and emerging concerns in this feedback. The data science team is asked to not only analyze insights received through its existing sources, but to tap into any relevant and accessible data source that might be relevant to the team's mission. As such, the team has built an environment to ingest, process, and analyze this data. As the data science product manager, you will help improve this ETL process while ingesting new, relevant data sources into the environment.

As the team's data science product manager, you will help to ideate solutions with the client, guide the team in developing their projects, help to define the team's mission, and bring the team's data science capabilities and offerings to the next level.
