Summary

This position is located in the MWR River's Edge/Eddies facilities aboard Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. The purpose of this position is to perform duties involving food service operation of the conference center, snack bars and delivery program.

Responsibilities

*** MUST have a current, valid driver's license. A copy MUST be submitted with resume to be considered for this position.

** Must be available to work flexible hours to include early mornings, nights, weekends and Holidays
  • Performs set up and break down of food service areas with hot and cold food, including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, rolls and butter and beverages.Makes iced tea/coffee in large urns according to the number of servings desired, with responsibility for timing and brewing.
  • Incumbent makes a variety of salads such as chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, fruit salad, Chef Salad, garden salad in accordance with set/established recipes.Makes simple sandwiches utilizing standardized recipes.
  • Serves food in standard portions by placing uniform amounts in prescribed containers.
  • Refills/replenishes items as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, fire, and security regulations.
  • Assembles pizzas and cooks them in a pizza oven.
  • Deep fries various types of food.
  • Operates a turbo chef oven.
  • May be required to assist with washing dishes in support of the operation ensuring dish area is organized and free of clutter.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in food storage areas and paper storage areas.
  • Empty garbage cans.
  • Will drive a government vehicle designated for delivering food aboard Naval Air Station Patuxent River and assist in delivering food to established areas
  • Sweeps and mops floor areas.
  • May be required to operate a cash register according to standard cash control procedures; is responsible for their own cash fund, completes daily activity report and secures deposit of daily cash receipts as required by established processes/procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • A valid State driver's license is REQUIRED for this position as deliveries to other facilites may be necesssary. A copy MUST be submitted with your resume to be considered for this position.


Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of service standards to facilitate positive dining experience for customers.
  • Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with customers is required in order to understand and fulfill customer requests.
  • Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination.
  • Simple arithmetic and the ability to read instructions are necessary to prepare foods in the correct amount.
  • Skill to perform tasks with several steps and use judgment in the performance of sequential tasks is necessary to meet service timelines.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds, constantly standing and walking and occasionally lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a positively adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries background screening or higher clearance as determined by the position or local Security Manager.
