Responsibilities

: Acts as senior technical analyst and liaison with oversight of the daily administration and security of a global Windows network. Provides administrative assistance, and support to approximately 100 site administrators. Performs windows administration duties for the Marine Corps Community Services worldwide data network to include the Headquarters server farm and site deployed servers supporting retail point of sale, food and hospitality point sale, property management system, recreation applications and other incidental services.

Installs, maintains and tunes software and hardware; controls current versions and future releases of applications software, and documents the physical configuration of the information system. Manages and administers third party applications and products used for hardware and software inventory, software distribution, data collection and network monitoring. Optimizes the functionality of networks and systems. Diagnoses and recovers failed systems. Performs routine administration and repair of Windows servers supporting Domain Controllers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, Exchange, IIS, Terminal Services, Advanced Server, NAS and server clusters.

May perform routine log and performance monitoring of server operating system, applications and hardware. Administers and utilizes centralized desktop monitoring and management solutions. Writes scripts or management applications to promote efficient monitoring, tuning and administration of Windows operating systems and Windows based applications. Plans hardware and software upgrades and deployments. Conducts capacity planning and performance analysis. Reports daily and weekly status of systems and application.

Ensures and oversees the application of appropriate security measures to assignments. Ensures integrity of data by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Provides advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complicated IT issues. Interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines. Conducts analyses and recommends resolution of complex issues affecting the specialty area. Evaluates and recommends new or enhanced improvements to delivery services. Tests and optimizes functionality of systems and data. Identifies and defines technical requirements for development and implementation.

Supervises NF-4 Information Technology Specialists to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action. Oversees maintenance and enforcement of the security of resources and develops procedures to minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Serves as a subject matter expert and direct advisor to senior leaders in the organization for the assigned organizational division. Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Oversees preparation and approves internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Analyzes programs on a regular basis, and prompts initiation of corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Develops long range plans.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Five years of experience as a senior technical analyst and/or liaison with oversight of the daily administration and security of a global Windows network. Skill to provide administrative assistance, and support to multiple site administrators, and perform windows administration duties for a large data network, server farm and site deployed servers supporting retail point of sale, food and hospitality point sale, property management systems; recreation applications and other incidental services. Skill to install, maintain and tune hardware and software; control current versions and future releases of applications software, and document the physical configuration of the information system. Skill to optimize the functionality of networks and systems, and diagnose and recover failed systems. Skill to lead other employees to accomplish work assignments. Experience to perform routine administration and repair of Windows servers supporting Domain Controllers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, Exchange, IIS, Terminal Services, Advanced Server, NAS and server clusters. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification and CISSP required. Certification in or experience with Red Hat (RHCE), Network Appliance storage, Dell Compellent storage, Citrix and VMware virtualization, Microsoft FIM, and IaaS migration a plus.

Must have the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation at the ANACI level to complete assigned duties that require access to classified national security information.
