University of Maryland University College seeks a Director of Leadership and Sponsorship Programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership gift donors from individuals, as well as sponsorship gifts, primarily between the $1,000 - $10,000 level. With the assistance of the Senior Director of Development, manages the cultivation, solicitation and recognition of the members of the University's Leadership Society.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards leadership gifts for UMUC managing an assigned list of approximately 100 leadership prospects and donors.
  • The Director will be assigned a specific annual fundraising monetary goal along with goals regarding contacts/visits with donors and proposals/asks completed.
  • Leads the development and implementation of a plan to enhance and expand the University's leadership giving society. This includes but not limited to mailings, recognition events and activities, acknowledgment processes and maintaining data records.
  • Develops and implements certain sponsorship programs at the University. This includes working with other team members to develop marketing materials, ensure benefits are delivered in a timely fashion and manage a successful acknowledgment process.
  • Creates strategy and leads efforts to increase the number of annual giving donors who have potential to give at the leadership level.
  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits leadership gifts as part of the Faculty/Staff Campaign.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • A minimum of four years of experience and demonstrated success in fundraising, specifically with leadership and/or major gifts.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing or implementing fundraising programs including societies.
  • Experience in sponsorship fundraising required. Proficiency in written communication, creativity and well-developed organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex tasks, to formulate plans and to carry out objectives, and to interact effectively with individuals.
  • Travel and occasional evening work for events or external meetings is required.
