Responsibilities

  • Serves as the resident technical medical expert for fertility awareness and education throughout the lifespan at the Office of Womens Health (OWH).
  • Provides advice and assistance to senior agency personnel , external and internal officials, governmental, nonprofit, and private agencies..
  • Performs various duties including creating policies and drafting regulations that directly impact patient care services.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the requirements as noted below.

Basic Requirement(s):
A. Possess a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association ; Association of American Medical Colleges ; Liaison Committee on Medical Education ; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association , or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Must provide transcript)ORB. Possess a Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates , a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Must provide transcript)

Graduate Training:
Possess 5 years of graduate training in the specialty (women's health which include internal medicine/pediatrics, family medicine, or obstetrics & gynecology) of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.

AND

Licensure: You must possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT LICENSURE IS REQUIRED WITH YOUR APPLICATION.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.

This position requires specific coursework and/or a degree to meet the basic education requirement. Additional information

Physicians Comparability Allowance of up to $30,000 per annum may be paid based on the selected "Government" physician's assignment, qualifications, experience, and duration of a negotiated service agreement.

Payments
Agencies may pay a PCA of up to $14,000 annually to a physician with 24 months or less of service as a Government physician. Agencies may pay a PCA of up to $30,000 annually to a physician with more than 24 months of service as a Government physician. PCAs are subject to the aggregate limitation on pay under 5 U.S.C. 5307 and 5 CFR part 530, subpart B.

Excluded Physicians
An agency may not pay PCAs to reemployed annuitants; physicians employed and paid under title 38, United States Code; Commissioned Corps Officers of the Public Health Service and other members of the uniformed services; and certain other physicians listed under 5 U.S.C. 5948(b).Physician's Comparability Allowance of up to $30,000 per annum may be paid based on the the selected physician's assignment, qualifications, experience, and duration of a negotiated service agreement.
