Mason LIFE Employment Adult Services Coordinator:

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development is seeking a professional faculty member whose responsibilities will focus on employment development, job support, supervision, adult service coordination and training for Mason LIFE (Learning into Future Environments) students. Responsibilities: The Mason LIFE Program (MLP) is a supportive academic university opportunity offering a four-year curriculum of non-credit studies to postsecondary students, 18-23 years of age, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The assigned duties of this position include: (a) guide MLP students in employment settings in both on- and off-campus internships; (b) match MLP students and employment support staff, and design individual employment schedules; (c) coordinate and train the support staff or mentors, as well as the employers; (d) coordinate adult service collaboration as needed; (e) assess current sites for feasibility and determine new work site opportunities; (f) provide on-going budgetary monitoring; and (g) participate in core administrative meetings.

In addition, the Mason LIFE Employment Adult Services Coordinator will support MLP students to facilitate understanding of various jobs and work responsibilities to include the creation of a work portfolio with resume, as well as the development of interview skills. The candidate will also design and implement employment classes, evaluate student performance, and disseminate data on MLP outcomes by attending transition fairs and conferences.

Required Qualifications: * An earned Master's Degree in special education or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required

Preferred Qualifications: * A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, with at least one year of experience in transition/employment services or in a postsecondary education program, is preferred.
