The Emmes Company, LLC is searching for an Accounting Manager located in our Rockville, Maryland Office.

Primary Purpose

The Accounting Manager manages the Accounts Payable function, supports month-end close activities, and is responsible for integration of affiliate entities into Emmes' financial reporting. 50% AP and 50% Corporate Accounting (ie: month-end activities, financial statement preparation, integration of affiliates, etc.).


• Daily management of the operations and internal controls of the Accounts Payable function for Emmes and its wholly-owned subsidiaries

• Training, mentoring, and supervision of Accounts Payable staff

• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline efficiencies and ensure accurate work product in the Accounts Payable department

• Lead the design and implementation of a standardization initiative to ensure direct and indirect costs are recorded consistently across all projects; coordinator the roll-out of this effort with Pricing, Contracts and Project staff to ensure responsible parties have a clear understanding and the processes can be maintained

• Assist with month-end activities to ensure financial reporting deadlines are met

• Assist with comparative financial statement preparation (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows) and analysis of the results

• Support integration of affiliate entities into Emmes' financial reporting

• Ensure intercompany balances between Emmes and its affiliates are reconciled

• Lead or assist with ad-hoc assignments and analysis as needed

• Promote a high-quality customer experience for both internal and external clients

• Other duties as assigned


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience

• Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense required

• Experience working in a Federal Government Contracting environment required

• Strong organization, time management, and analytical skills

• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and also collaboratively with others to achieve goals

• Self-starter and detail-oriented
