The Medical Interpreter:
Provides interpreter services to inpatient & outpatient units at main hospital and behavioral health hospital as needed.
Communicates with language vendors and is familiar with the contract terms Interpreter will validate vendor invoices with completed assignments.
Works closely with agency interpreters and assist with their orientation, validation of assignments and escorting to units as needed.
Identifies resources, information or forms in other languages as needed. Should have knowledge of Federal, State and Joint Commission Regulations, Standards and Mandates.
Interpreters will recruit staff members for the QBS Program, process applications, distribute information and materials.

Qualified Candidates will possess:
Completion of an interpreter training program of at least 40 hours plus completion of Medical Terminology training program.
Minimum of at least one year of interpreting int he healthcare field.
Bachelors degree preferred; not required.
Strong linguistic skills - oral fluency in English and Spanish.
Understands a variety of regional accents, linguistic styles and registers.
Selects appropriate mode of interpretation for each situation.
Passes the language proficiency assessment as Level 2.
Active BLS CPR card.

Work Schedule:

Team members will work 4 10 hours days with rotating weekends.
