Position Summary

At this time we are seeking a Director of Proposals to drive the process of developing compelling, innovative proposals (including written responses for RFx’s; oral presentations and demonstrations; and unsolicited proposals) that win business.

Overview

As the ideal candidate you will possess the management and leadership skills required to effectively support a high growth technology business and manage a team. In addition to your public sector proposal management experience, you have a technical background that enables you to easily interact with IT leaders, software developers, and solutions architects. This background coupled with your familiarity with US government acquisition guidelines, as well as federal and state RFx compliance requirements, enables you to develop proposal win themes and technical discriminators. You have a demonstrated ability to think strategically, balancing mission, product, and technical influences, to build and convey compelling value propositions in a written context.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the proposal team members and the overall team bandwidth
  • Support MicroPact’s sales team by managing the complete lifecycle of a proposal response from intake of the RFx and qualification of the opportunity through to submission
  • Help drive the creation of proactive / unsolicited proposals to help generate new business

Strategy Development

  • Establish and leverage a technical understanding of MicroPact’s product and service offerings in order to set strategies with for proposal responses, win themes, technical discriminators, pricing, value proposition, etc.
  • Work cross functionally with portfolios throughout the organization to create proposal responses
  • Advise management on proposal matters

Proposal Development

  • Manage multiple simultaneous RFP responses on tight schedules and under elevated pressure
  • Develop and distribute pursuit management plans that break out the RFx requirements into section assignments for pursuit team members (direct and virtual) for completion
  • Execute the RFx proposal response plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. marketing, sales team, service teams, legal, support, finance, etc.)
  • Validate RFP response requirements and ensure proposal compliance, and act as the primary interface for RFx response efforts
  • Facilitate bid qualification calls
  • Facilitate proposal reviews

Best Practice Development

  • Work with other Proposal team members to create and improve best practices that ensure the RFP process is successful and efficient
  • Help maintain the library of approved proposal content for quick-turnaround opportunities

Quality Control

  • Review, edit, and provide guidance on the creation of cover letters, executive summaries, and other key parts of proposals
  • Perform writing and editing duties to ensure proposal responses are compliant, clear, consistent, has marketing impact, and is error-free
  • Support all activities related to the assembly, production, and delivery of a compliant proposal on time, in the format(s) specified
  • Enforce approved style guidelines and ensure a consistent look and feel of all outgoing proposals and ensure that all bids reflect proposal best practices

Qualifications:

  • Team management
  • Excellent writing skills
  • 5- 10 years of proposal management experience supporting proposal responses to RFx opportunities
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • APMP certified preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to adhere to strict deadlines, some overtime to be expected
  • Customer-focused and self-motivated with a great sense of urgency and follow-through
  • Must have a good understanding of government procurement and contract vehicles
  • Excellent communicator who can quickly earn the respect of the team and customers
  • Must have the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
