Job Description:

The Group Sales Associate is responsible for maximizing ticket sales to various groups in a specified market area for Kennedy Center performances, including, but not limited to, developing new clients and servicing the ticketing needs of current clients.

This role offers the potential to receive additional income for meeting team sales goals!

Duties and Responsibilities:

30% Developing new clients by focusing on assigned target markets through outbound calling, building affinity lists, email marketing, print advertising, independent business client meetings, internal and external promotional events, with the resulting goal of significantly increased group sales for the Kennedy Center. Producing target market sales analysis reports to track sales trends from year to year.

20% Providing outstanding customer service to all patrons in order to maximize group sales income for Kennedy Center performances. Responding to incoming phone, walk-in and email inquiries for group sales, and calling existing and prospective clients in accordance with market area and marketing assignments.

20% Concluding advance bookings with the Box Office by preparing all details on group contracts through the Tessitura ticketing system. Following up with patrons to ensure timely payment and that the client receives their tickets and fulfillment materials needed for their performance.

15% Forming long-term trusting relationships with group sales patrons. Actively pursuing client stewardship opportunities such as hosting clients for business meetings, performances, and other relationship building initiatives.

10% Working with management and various departments to address specific customer service requests as needed (ie, accessibility accommodations, transportation needs, dining, receptions, rental spaces, tours, etc.)

N/A Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner; Adheres to all employer policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is required. Equivalent experience would be considered.
  • A background in the performing arts is preferred.
  • Experience with Tessitura ticketing software and Excel is highly preferred.
  • Sales experience is necessary, and group sales experience is a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is normal.

Travel up to 5% may be required.
