MIL currently holds several multi-year contracts with NAWCAD in the areas of Cyber, C5ISR, and Information Technology systems.

The MIL Corporation is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a Federal Government client at our Patuxent River, MD location. The Senior Network Engineer will support the RDT&E network and customers.

Key Duties
  • Analyze and evaluate networking requirements, design and development of network topologies and architectures to include hardware and software identification, network test and evaluation, operational and performance analysis, network upgrades and modifications, and implementation of network security and information assurance measures.
  • Participate in and lead in the development of the latest state-of-the-art information technologies, including research, design, operational and technical requirements, network engineering, testing, and information assurance.
  • Administration, maintenance, and operational troubleshooting of Juniper Firewalls and policy.
  • Serve as the primary author for deliverables, including system requirements and specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Direct multiple system engineering tasks and provide guidance during all phases of implementation.
  • Support customer's briefings and design reviews and work independently in a multi-tasking environment. Complete, configure and provide documentation of management reports.
  • Maintain IAVM compliance and other software and firmware updates for all responsible systems as required.
  • Maintain integrity of the Network Backbone Infrastructure by performing network security analysis, systems maintenance and technical support, monitoring/reporting, requirements analysis, planning, and IA and configuration management for all responsible systems including both wired and wireless networks. Evaluate and resolve network problems using hardware and software diagnostic tools.
  • Work independently to install new hardware from box to production in rack and perform minor network cable runs and terminations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant technical discipline OR equivalent degree/experience
  • 5 years of experience providing network engineering support to include a minimum of 4 years of experience in the following Network Backbone Infrastructure Hardware: Brocade, Cisco, and/or Juniper switches and routers, and Aruba access points and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the following Network Management Tools: SolarWinds Network Management Suite, Aruba Mobility Controllers, Clearpass Access Control, Wireshark for packet analysis
  • General experience with ACLs, 802.1x, TCP-IP, OSPF, SSH, DNS, DHCP, and Network Diagramming with Visio
  • General experience with network switches, routers, network firewalls, network VPN, IPS/IDS, and SEIM
  • General experience installing and troubleshooting wired network connections (UTP and Fiber)
  • Juniper Firewall Administration Experience
  • Familiarity with hardening assets in accordance with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security + and Windows OS or Linux) or be able to obtain within 90 days of start date
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.


Must possess a current Top-Secret SSBI clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects.
