Job Details

AEI is seeking a full-time research assistant to work with the Poverty Studies team. AEI's Poverty Studies program is committed to reforming public policy to better help low-income Americans move up the economic ladder and live happier, more dignified lives.

Responsibilities include research support in the form of compiling data from government reports and developing literature reviews of academic research; editing and contributing to articles, op-eds, and reports; creating and formatting charts and PowerPoint presentations; and working closely with AEI's development, external affairs, and communications departments to extend the reach and impact of Poverty Studies research.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in public policy and be broadly familiar with our nation's safety-net programs and proposals for improving them. Additional familiarity with family formation and adoption services is preferred. Previous experience in Congress or public policy research organizations is preferred, and necessary attributes include writing skills, the ability to think deeply about policy options and multitask, and strong relationship-building skills.

AEI offers a stimulating and harmonious work environment and excellent benefits. Interested candidates should submit their resume, cover letter, unofficial academic transcripts, and 500-word writing sample with their online application at www.aei.org/jobs.

About AEI

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world. The work of its scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in a belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

AEI is committed to making the intellectual, moral, and practical case for expanding freedom, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening the free enterprise system in America and around the world. Its work explores ideas that further these goals, and AEI scholars take part in this pursuit with academic freedom. AEI operates independently of any political party and has no institutional positions. Its scholars' conclusions are fueled by rigorous, data-driven research and broad-ranging evidence.

Company

The American Enterprise Institute is a community of scholars and supporters committed to expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity and strengthening free enterprise. AEI pursues these unchanging ideals through independent thinking, open debate, reasoned argument, facts and the highest standards of research and exposition. Without regard for politics or prevailing fashion, we dedicate our work to a more prosperous, safer and more democratic nation and world.
