Summary

This position is located in the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The employee will serve as the Administrative Officer, responsible for overseeing and facilitating the efficient daily operation of the Foundation.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Oversees and facilitates the efficient daily operation of the Foundation. Assists the President of the Foundation in getting things done through knowledge of and skill in dealing with organizations, methods, funds, people, equipment, and other tools or resources of management.

Facilitates implementation of decisions made by the President of the Foundation and ensures that the decisions are reflected in legislative and policy proposals and in directives. Provides expert technical advice in carrying out a variety of important and critical assignments in the areas of fellowships, scholarships, etc.

Monitors and evaluates administrative activities to provide efficient and effective support for the Foundation's mission and to provide advice and technical assistance to various personnel on a wide variety of administrative program areas. Makes recommendations for program and procedural improvements.

Provides critical analysis of pressing issues and required recommendations. Serves as a troubleshooter for the Foundation on a diverse range of issues, projects or concerns requiring an overview of the total operation with respect to resolving significant, controversial, and/or otherwise highly charged situations.

Interacts with campus representatives, students, parents, members of Congress and their staffs and other interested parties, providing guidance, approvals and program statistics, as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

Have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) providing expert technical advice in critical assignments in areas of fellowships and scholarships for students, scholarship advisors, and financial aid officers; (2) evaluating methods and techniques on the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations; (3) maintaining all systems that relate to storage, retrieval, and disposition of all documents related to the operation; and (4) connecting campus representatives, parents and members of Congress to provide statistics and program guidance.

Physical Demands:
The work is sedentary. Visits to educational institutions will be required. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (e.g., papers, books) involved. Standing for extended periods of time may be required when making presentations or briefings. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
