As Data/ETL Engineer, you will be responsible for developing data warehouses, pipelines, and infrastructure to drive intelligent applications and products. You will work closely with the data science and product teams while working in a big data environment on Cloud Platforms (primarily AWS, and also Azure, GCP, and Hadoop). Rhombus is a NASA Research Park startup and partner working in the security and energy industries to bring big-data insights to enterprise-level planning and decision-making. The Data/ETL Engineer will be responsible for:Designing solutions and supporting the installation, customization, and integration of the solutionConstructing new data warehouse platforms, primarily in cloud infrastructure, and developing pipelines and ETL processes to support products and solutionsProductionizing data engineering solutions, including models, pipelines, and infrastructure to deploy solutions to customers Required QualificationsRDBMS technologies: SQL and NoSQL databases (eg MySQL, REDIS, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch), including distributed databases for production environmentKnowledge about scaling and sharding databasesHands-on experience in implementing large and fast data platformsExperience working with Cloud DB environments (eg Redshift, AWS RDS, AWS Elasticache)Familiarity with data-oriented scripting languages: shell, C/Go/Python/R/Java/Scala/Perl primarily for ETL processesFamiliarity with Apache open source tools (eg Hadoop, Kafka, Spark)Ability to create an end-to-end data delivery and production pipeline (eg REST API endpoints)Familiarity with data modeling approaches such as ERD and concepts behind relational, normalized and star schema database architecturesAbility to work flexible hoursAbility to travel as-needed to meet with team members (typically less than 5% travel)US Citizen who is eligible for Government clearance required; current secret clearance holder preferred Behavioral competenciesPositive, winning attitudePassion for continual learningOperates with a sense of urgencyTakes ownership and deliversUpholds honesty and integrity Preferred QualificationsWorking on AWS (Amazon Web Services)Working on, optimizing, and tuning performance of common databases: MySQL, Postgres, Any NoSQLCore competency in Unix and LinuxMessage/Task Brokers (RabbitMQ, Lambda, Kafka, Pub/Sub)Container technologies like Docker and Singularity We're growing fast and hiring fast.
