Job Description Candidate will provide hands on Senior level Technical Engineering support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometrics (OBIM). Candidate will provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives. Has domain and expert technical knowledge. Directs and controls activities for a client, having overall responsibility for financial management, methods, and staffing to ensure that technical requirements are met. The Network Engineer III must have the following skills: * Ability to install, troubleshoot, patch and maintain VMware/VSAN 6.5+ Hosts which are maintained on Dell Hardware. * Ability to implement new VM and use VCenter server to administer the virtualized environment. * Knowledge of Veritas Back Exec solution software and be familiar with Dell TL type tape libraries. * Familiarity with IBM fiber Brocade switches and configurations. * Ability to work with Government customer in ordering new equipment and software for Tier 3 environment. * Proficient in supporting all Microsoft OS systems with a focus on Windows 2012 server. Key Tasks and Responsibilities * Provides Senior Level Tier 3 support and Engineering in VMware Virtualized Environment. * Installs, troubleshoots, patches and maintains VMware/VSAN 6.5+ Hosts which are maintained on Dell Hardware. * Provides senior technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. Provides support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (eg, LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders. * Provides in-depth engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives for government agencies in support of their strategic modernization efforts and telecommunications enhancement design for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures. * Provides interface support to telecommunications end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management. * Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems. * Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals). * Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. * Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network. * Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network. Candidate will also administer, manage, monitor, and provide support for the following voice, video, and data network operation services: * Network Support Service * Network Connectivity Service * IP Address Assignment Service (DHCP) * Domain Name System Service (DNS) * Internet Access Service * Network Monitoring Service * Wireless Network Peripheral Service * Firewall Service * Blackberry Service * Video Conference Service * Voice over IP (VOIP) Service * Internet/Intranet/Extranet services and support * Remote access and VPN design, implementation, and administration Required Education & Experience * Master's Degree and/or greater than 15 years Technical experience * Experience in Biometrics desired Must have experience with the following: * VMWARE/ ESXI 6.5 or higher (administration, patching and maintenance) * VMWARE VSAN 6.5 * VCENTER/VSPHERE administration * Windows Server 2012 Administrations * Windows 10 * Altiris patch management solutions * Netgear NAS, SAN knowledge technologies * Vertias Backup EXEC 20 / Tape Libraries , backup and restore experience from Dell tape library, Backing up VMs in BACKUP Exec * IBM Brocade switches * Basic knowledge of install LINUX in VMWARE environment * Ability to perform maintenance on designated weekends remotely. * Ability to work well in a team environment.
