Summary

This position is in the Meetings and Events Management (MEM) Section of the Systems and Services Branch (SSB) within the Division of Administrative Services (DAS), Office of Information and Resource Management (OIRM), National Science Foundation (NSF) in Alexandria, VA. MEM provides conference, meeting and event management, and audiovisual (AV) support services for the NSF Advisory Committees and proposal Merit Reviewers, panelists, visitors, and special guests.

Responsibilities

Meetings and Events Management provides conference, meeting and event management, and audiovisual (AV) support services for the NSF Advisory Committees and proposal Merit Reviewers, panelists, visitors, and special guests who collectively support the NSF primary mission. This position includes responsibility for providing AV/IT technical support and oversight to conference operations. Duties include the following:
  • Collects, performs analysis, and helps verify data relative to organization, functions, methods, staffing, facilities, equipment, layout, workflow, workload, and person-hours that impact operations;
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts special projects and complex, multifunctional management analyses studies to evaluate and recommend ways for improvement. Identifies data required for use in the management and direction of programs.;
  • Develops and establishes new methods for measuring and improving operational effectiveness and productivity;
  • Develops and implements operating procedures to improve efficiency of conference support operations;
  • Serves as a technical resource addressing audiovisual (AV) problems and overseeing maintenance and troubleshooting activities in response to customer requirements or inquiries. Researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements;
  • Maintains knowledge of current AV/IT systems necessary for support operations. Discusses technical problems, techniques to be used, applying an in-depth knowledge of the concepts, theories and practices of business and operations analysis;
  • Performs configuration management activities for AV/IT systems and equipment in accordance with established baselines defined in the configuration plan;
  • Develops procedures and systems for establishing, operating, and assessing the effectiveness of administrative control systems.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-11 level, you need to have one of the following: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: collecting and analyzing data, evaluating program activities, creating and managing databases, interpreting Federal Acquisition Regulations and procurement budget policies, contract administration, and coordinating logistical arrangements as it pertains to conference and events management.

OR, possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;

OR, possess 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;

OR, possess a combination of post high school education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.

To qualify at GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include: collecting and analyzing data, evaluating program activities, creating and managing databases, interpreting Federal Acquisition Regulations and procurement budget policies, contract administration, and coordinating logistical arrangements as it pertains to conference and events management.
