Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Director, Numismatic and Bullion Department, Product Management Division in Washington, DC.

The mission of the United States Mint is to manufacture and distribute circulating, precious metal and collectible coins, and national medals to meet the needs of the American People. The primary function of NaB is to manage the numismatic business line of the United States Mint.

Responsibilities

All candidates who are:
Current or former federal employees qualifying as Status Candidates , Federal employees currently serving on a VRA, VEOA eligibles , CTAP/ICTAP eligibles, eligible for special hiring authorities (e.g., the Schedule A appointment for persons with disabilities, or covered by an Interchange Agreement), or VRA eligibles (GS-11 only) OR
Land Management employees eligible under Public Law 114-47 .

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

-Conceiving and developing new product ideas and initiatives.

-Systematically collect, analyze and interpret numismatic marketing data. From this data, the employee formulates basic strategies for the sale of numismatic products to wholesale bulk dealers; retail outlets and the general public.

-Preparing reports, actions plans, procedures, memoranda, and letters, etc. as necessary utilizing the data provided by the Finance and Analysis Branch and the Forecast team.

-Utilize project management and analytical tools and basic management techniques.

-Assist in gathering, analyzing and interpreting precious metal data from internal and external sources and report any significant trends.

Occasional travel - 1 to 5 nights per month may be required.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:


For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-Marketing consumer/business-to-business product/services with special emphasis on collectibles and/or precious metals; AND
-Developing strategies and tactics to carry out the day-to-day operations of developing, bringing to market, executing and promoting consumer products or services via a website and digital marketing environment potentially working with precious metals products, taking & processing orders in a retail or wholesale business-to-business environment. AND
-Monitoring financial markets for trends that could impact demand. AND
-Working with a marketing team to bring products/services to market in an e-Commerce environment, monitoring the performance of those products/services, and recommending strategies/tactics to improve their performance.

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-Marketing consumer/business-to-business products and services; AND
-Customer Relations experience; AND
-Working with a marketing team to bring products/services to market in a digital marketing environment, monitoring the performance of those products/services, inventory levels, and recommending strategies/tactics to improve their performance and/or extension; AND
-Experience with investment markets.

For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-Experience marketing retail/business to business product/collectibles or services; AND
-Customer Relations experience; AND
-Promoting consumer products or taking and processing product orders/services.

OR
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or LL.M., if related.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.

Education

Education Requirements:
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
