Summary

About the Position:

Serves as an Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Coordinator for the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Safety (DPTMS) at Fort AP Hill, VA. Responsible for providing management technical expertise to the ITAM program. To include organizing all components of the ITAM program for Fort AP Hill and Serve as the primary point of contact for the ITAM program and provide recommendations regarding the requirements for appropriate ITAM activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present briefings, conduct meetings and prepare documents supporting land management decisions.
  • Publish reports/articles on integrated training area management to ensure proper dissemination of information.
  • Prepare the annual work plan (i.e, project descriptions, locations, size, execution method, and environment review status) to ensure long/short range activities are met.
  • Provide range management by evaluating and developing multi-use range and training land programs for customers.
  • Provide advice on the capacity of land resources to support training requirements and risks associated with exceeding that capacity.
  • Balance mission requirements and land maintenance activities with training land demands to coordinate land rehabilitation, maintenance and reconfiguration.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Approximately three temporary duty travel trips annually are required to facilitate management of the ITAM program.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Participation in management meetings may involve extended work hours.
  • There is a potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances and environment during inspections of firing ranges and training areas, and enter the impact area after areas have been cleared.
  • Completion of Range Officer Professional Development Courses (ROPD) Range Safety (Basic), Inter-Service Range Safety Course (Intermediate), Training Land Management and Range Modernization require within one year.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience at the GS-11 level: 1) Provides recommendations to reconcile training requirements with natural/cultural resources concerns 2) resolving range and training areas; and 3) providing land rehabilitation, assessment and maintenance support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).

Education
