Overview Reporting to the Vice President of Fund Development, the Director of Planned Giving is responsible for cultivating relationships with existing donors and prospects that are capable of making deferred financial gifts to benefit the ministries of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington (CCS/CHS). The individual is involved in a full range of marketing and fund development duties, including working with other development staff to ensure that both gifts for ongoing operations and planned gifts for future CCS strategic priorities are an integral component of a comprehensive donor-focused fundraising strategy. Starting salary is $69,482/annually/DOE. Generous benefits and PTO. Responsibilities * Work with the Vice President of Fund Development and Associate Director of Mission Appeals to implement a robust Planned Giving program by managing a portfolio of 100 to 125 prospects capable of providing a meaningful bequest to CCS/CHS. * Work with the CCS/CHS fund development team to identify, contact and cultivate donor prospects for membership in the CCS/CHS legacy giving group, the Good Samaritan Society (GSM). * Coordinate with CCS/CHS leadership as well as legal and financial representatives of donors to ensure donor intention and appropriateness of major and planned gifts. * Ensure timely correspondence and proper acknowledgement and stewardship of major and planned gift donors. * Ensure all communication and outreach with donors and prospects is accurately recorded in the database. * Manage all records/documents/notifications related to bequests and gift expectancies, ensuring appropriate follow through and compliance. * Prepare reports for donors regarding their bequests, trusts and annuities. * Manage the content and coordination of planned giving print materials including brochures, donor acknowledgements/correspondence, advertisements, invitations, etc. * Manage the content and coordination of the online planned giving section of the CCSWW website. * Manage the social media aspects of marketing the Planned Giving Program with the overall social media fund development plan. * Plan and conduct informational seminars, speaking engagements and stewardship events to promote major and planned gifts for CCS/CHS. * Provide quarterly Planned Giving Program reports for Board of Trustees and Agency Directors. * Build necessary relationships with allied legal, accounting and financial planning professionals for counsel regarding complex planned gifts and compliance with State and Federal laws. * Coordinate receivables with CCSWW accounting office. * Coordinate any pass through gifts from the Archdiocese of Seattle. * Track gift annuities for CCS/CHS managed by the Archdiocesan stewardship office. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication or Non-profit administration or related field. * Minimum of seven years of fund development experience overseeing successful fundraising programs including direct mail appeals, major and planned gifts and grants. * A proven fund raising track record demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors. * Commitment to support and promote the mission of CCS/CHS and the tenants of Catholic Social Teaching through all forms of communication. * Proven track record for successful project coordination and execution, preferably in a fund development environment. * Plans/participates in donor stewardship events and/or presentations. * Knowledge of planned giving and its complexities: wills, trusts, endowments, etc. * Ability to lead, work independently and/or in a team setting. * Ability to research and analyze large groups of data to discover planned giving prospects. * Able to maintain and support all activities involving moves management tracking and coordination with assigned donors. * Solid interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - both oral and written. * Proficiency with information technology including Microsoft Word, Excel and database management. * Participation in professional development through the Washington Planned Giving Association and other areas of advancement education in planned giving. * Ability to maintain confidential information. * High degree of flexibility in order to achieve objectives and meet goals * Must possess a valid Washington driver's license and the ability to provide own transportation * Some evening and weekend work is required.
