Academic Director of Nursing Academic Director of Nursing Employee Type: Faculty Position Number: 126275 Work Location: Tri-Cities Summary of Duties: The Director reports jointly to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs on the WSU Tri-Cities campus and the Dean of the College of Nursing. This position serves an important role with respect to students, faculty, and the community. In the role of leader, the Director fosters conditions and relationships with a focus on student success. WSU Tri-Cities faculty members fulfill teaching, research, and service responsibilities on the campus. The Director's career success depends on nurturing and encouraging a climate that supports these three pillars. The Director provides mentorship and advances faculty needs and interests on a daily basis. WSU Tri-Cities is invested in our local community and the Director serves as a leader on the campus and in its academic mission. Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Requirements include a minimum of five years' experience with demonstrated leadership ability and exhibited strength in both research and teaching. It is expected that the Director will have the credentials to be appointed at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The successful candidate possesses skills to develop new and innovative approaches to nursing education and research, demonstrated ability to build relationships with industry partners and alumni to benefit teaching, research and outreach programs, experience with accreditation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proved record in designing and delivering innovative programs in interdisciplinary research and the advancement of undergraduate and graduate education to a diverse student body.
