This position will be a key member of a Worker Safety and Health Safety Engineering team to develop and implement programs, policies and procedures related to electrical safety according to DOE requirements and consensus standards such as NFPA 70 and 70E. You will team with other support organizations to develop and conduct training, communications, and quality assurance within the programs you own. You will also have the following responsibilities: Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Electrical Safety at PNNL. Provide strategic and technical leadership in Electrical Safety programs and remain cognizant of current and future regulatory requirements applicable to research and laboratory operations Monitors potential hazards and assists in developing and implementing control strategies. Periodically reviews the organization's health and safety standards in accordance with DOE, OSHA and state regulations and contractual requirements. Ensures that quality control procedures are implemented according to applicable regulations. Uses professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Demonstrates leadership and builds and leverages networks across DOE Complex and within Directorate and PNNL. Translates strategy into specific goals and objectives. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative. Locally recognized as a technical authority. Maintains professional knowledge of existing and proposed changes in applicable health and safety regulations. Manages projects involving diverse tasks, teams, and organizations. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Develops and implements programs, policies and procedures for hazard evaluation and monitoring to prevent or minimize staff exposures. Conducts mentoring and training activities for technical staff. Fosters collaboration and grows the skills of others. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science or engineering and 10+ years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience, or advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience. Demonstration of experience in leadership at a company level and committee/team participation at a regional level. Ability to evaluate complex technical problems and provide solutions. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience supporting field activities related but not limited to facilities and operations, laboratory research, and safety process. Demonstrated experience implementing Electrical Safety standards including NFPA 70 and 70E in accordance with the Department of Energy requirements Registered Professional Engineer (Electrical). Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of building power distribution systems.
