Position Summary Information Basic Function Part-time instructors needed to teach Air Conditioning and Refrigeration courses at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Duties and Responsibilities Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Instruction may be during the day, evening, or weekend. Compensation is per credit hour and based upon rank. The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment. The adjunct faculty is responsible for delivering established curriculum to students in a professional and proficient manner, assigning and grading assignments, inputting attendance records, and ensuring an effective learning environment through classroom and lab management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Associate's degree in HVAC-R or Master HVAC license or related field. 2 years field experience in Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning, and Refrigeration service and installation. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with a diverse student population. Excellent communication skills. Able to present course materhial in a manner commensurate with students' level of learning. Teaching experience and/or relevant work experience. 10 years field experience in Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning, and Refrigeration service and installation. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Adept knowledge of instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
