Position Summary Information Basic Function Teach at four levels (low intermediate to advanced) of English as a Second Language with an emphasis on academic reading and writing and oral communication skills. Courses are offered in traditional and hybrid environments. Salary is per credit hour and based on education and experience Duties and Responsibilities Teach college-level ESLcourses. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 10 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Instruction may be during the day, evening, or weekend. Minimum Qualifications Applicants should have experience teaching an array of ESL academic courses to students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency. previous teaching experience at a community college is preferred. Experience in teaching advanced academic composition and/or reading courses at an accredited institution of higher education is strongly desired. Experience with hybrid courses and distance learning is also highly preferred. Preferred Qualifications College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities *Adept knowledge of instructional technologies *Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills *Ability to work with a diverse student population *Successful passing of a criminal background check *Adjunct faculty are required to meet assigned classes on meeting dates, submit required grade records and reports, student learning outcomes. *Classes maybe held during the day, evening or combination of both.
