Job Description Summary We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support business growth who is energetic, creative and team-oriented to work on specialized communication modems, network management software and networking SATCOM products used in portable, land-mobile, airborne, helicopters, fixed-wing aircrafts. The individual will be part of an engineering team that develops embedded and server-side software using latest toolchains from Xilinx, Atlassian, JBoss, Apache in an Agile software development environment. Responsibilities Work from requirements through to software delivery, participating as a team member throughput the software development life cycle Collaborate with customers, to understand and analyze requirements Develop robust high-level software designs that meet requirements Develop code and automated unit tests that meet design Resolve issues raised by system test teams in a timely and effective manner Requirements Must be capable of obtaining and holding a US government security clearance BS in engineering related discipline with 8 years of experience 8 years software design experience including the development of software design documents 8 years of software development experience in C and C++ and/or Java 5 years of automated test development Preferred Qualifications MS degree 8 years experience reviewing software implementations to ensure they meet system requirements 8 years experience writing technical documents for external customers 5 years experience of computer networking principles Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment Experience working on satellite telecommunications systems. Experience with a requirements management tool (eg DOORS) Experience with a configuration management tool (eg ClearCase, GIT) Experience of satellite hub/gateway system design and implementation Company Description Fairwinds is a fast growing women owned Federal and Defense Communications Technology Company with locations in Annapolis, MD and Newark, DE as well as customer support locations around the world.
