Job Location: Springfield, VA Job Type: Full-Time Pay: Up to $120K/yr (Depends on Experience) Clearance: US Citizen The Software Packager will be responsible for analyzing, engineering, and testing application installation packages for Windows Operating Systems using general MSI technology, Flexera AdminStudio, and Wise Script editor in addition to other generally accepted scripting tools and knowledge. This team member will integrate both vendor supplied applications and custom developed applications into the managed desktop environment while adhering to established change management policies and observing SOPs to ensure good and sound IT practices during the building/testing/deployment/analysis of software packages in the environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Create deployment packages, prepare them for testing, impart changes required by test team, and ensure all changes meet the customer s needs. Utilize SCCM to distribute content in a very large environment through the use of managed/targeted collections, deployment/patching cycles. Perform advanced Tier III/IV troubleshooting of issues affecting client workstation systems and effectively communicate with the client while documenting the resolution process using Remedy. Provide weekly status reports to management. Provide SCCM progress and status reports regarding deployed applications as required. Create support documentation for the team and peer groups as needed to include SOPs, general technical bulletins, and troubleshooting workflows as needed. Research and develop desktop technology solutions that ensure consistency and standardization across the enterprise. Maintain and upgrade the Flexera Admin Server and software and provide documentation as needed to support the platform. Stay abreast of new technology and provide detailed assessments of the current platform to support application packaging and distribution. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 3+ years of experience providing application packaging and patching experience in a mid to large scale enterprise desktop system environment. 5+ years of experience providing IT administration services in support of a mid to large scale enterprise desktop system environment. General relevant IT certifications such as A+, Security+/Network+, OS, and/or SCCM are desired. Specific certifications related to software packaging and scripting are a bonus. Expert-level knowledge building and editing MSI/MST files for enterprise distribution utilizing Flexera AdminStudio and Wise Script. Proficiency in scripting techniques involved with desktop system automation and management. Working knowledge of application requirements gathering and analysis, testing and benchmarking, and system/software integration. Solid experience with scripting/programming languages using VBScript, PowerShell, and batch files. Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Configuration Manager 2012 to create packages, applications, deployments, task sequences and report on associated status of those items. Expert-level understanding of Windows operating systems: Windows 7/10 Working knowledge of Server 2012 R2/2016. Familiarity with Active Directory, troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Group Policy Preferences (GPPs) and their effects on applications, Operating Systems and general configurations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite management and deployments. Flexible and able to balance changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The ability to multi-task as well as be strategic and innovative is necessary to contribute to the efficiency of the team. Excellent process-oriented skills with regards to configuration management and trouble-shooting within a large, complex enterprise. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data sets to determine trends, establish strategies, and make decisions. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at any business level. - provided by Dice
