We are currently seeking a Scientific Communications Editor to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. OVERVIEW. The contractor shall: Digital Information Management Digital Bulletin Board Support Serve as a liaison between the Office of Communications and Media Relations, the Office of Research Facilities (ORF) and vendors in the installation of digital displays in the hospital. Manage the day-to-day operations, logistics, relationships and timelines. Participate in discussions with stakeholders regarding information management and best practices in sharing content through the digital displays. Manage and provide updates for hospital leadership on the project on implementation, adherence to timelines and any issues that might impact the launch of the displays. Perform quality assurance and training after the installation of the digital displays Develop best practices for internal communications and coordination of hospital-wide communications Develop standard operating procedures for the digital displays that follow best practices for internal communications and coordination of hospital-wide communications. Website project support: Utilize skills in web and digital content creation tools. Utilize "digital-first" mindset in the organization and testing of new formats and dynamic visions for the Clinical Center's content. Develop, implement and administer internal communications strategies and programs that contribute to the organization by informing, educating, developing and engaging employees. Conduct research and analysis to assess effectiveness of communications and identifying opportunities for improvement. Content Generation Develop and contribute content to the social media streams of the Clinical Center. Work with staff on a variety of projects that combine various types of media to tell compelling stories about the Clinical Center's work. Write and edit articles, reports, press releases and copy for the hospital's newsletter, the CC News, the Clinical Center's website and patient recruitment office using Associated Press Stylebook guidelines. Work with colleagues across disciplines to positively impact the Clinical Center's culture, engagement and employee experience through internal communication. Project Management Manage and coordinate special projects with staff, including event promotion, department branding and supporting special events and initiatives. Manage the day-to-day operations and logistics with ORF and vendors to facilitate the installation and operation of digital displays. Coordinate communication with representatives from impacted areas to ensure minimal inconvenience to patients and staff. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: Master's degree in Visual Information, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a Master's degree. Minimum of five (5) years of related experience. Ability to manage logistics, complex projects, multitask and pay close attention to detail. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. Experience in developing and contributing content to the social media streams Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with the use of tools such as tracked changes, commenting, document merge and Adobe Acrobat and Adobe InDesign. Familiarity with best practices for internal communications and coordination of hospital-wide communications. Knowledge of grammar, writing and editing principles, concepts and techniques and style requirements, and the use of Federal Plain Language strategies. Experience interviewing subject-matter experts on a variety of scientific topics and translating that material into plain language articles of varying lengths. Ability to research, review, analyze, interpret, organize and draft materials in appropriate format; skill in fact finding analysis to interpret and organize data. PLEASE APPLY ONLINE.
