We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD . The contractor shall: Formulate plans and specifications for the development of a wide variety of complex electronic and electromechanical instrumentation systems for use in basic and clinical biomedical research projects. Interpret and understand the needs of investigators; formulate engineering solutions; select and specify the most appropriate solution; recommend the purchase of commercially available devices where possible. Prepare and fabricate electronic and electromechanical systems. Perform computer and embedded processor programming using LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, and other electronics software packages. Design custom devices and systems that meet the required specifications. Perform quality assurance for custom designed and fabricated devices. Provide consultation to intramural investigators in the application of engineering principles and techniques to the solution of problems arising in biomedical research. Provide training and assistance in areas of electrical engineering to promote conceptual understanding and to facilitate the exchange of ideas during the development of project requirements and specifications. Provide operating manuals and other supportive documentation so that the operation of the instruments can be understood. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline. Four to five (4-5) years of experience developing and supporting electronic and electromechanical instrumentation systems. Knowledge and skill using LabVIEW or LabVIEW FPGA. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills. PLEASE APPLY ONLINE.
