GDIT in Herndon, VA has a growth opportunity for a Sr. Tax Accountant!While there isn't a typical day in the life of a Sr. Tax Accountant, some of what you will be responsible for doing is:Preparation of federal and state income tax returnsPreparation of indirect tax returnsReview of indirect tax returnsReconciles and prepares journal entries of tax accounting records including income, indirect and internationalParticipates in tax forecasts including liability, cash tax and effective tax rateSupport corporate headquarters in IRS audit inquiriesSupport Segment specialist and corporate headquarters in international complianceMaintains current knowledge of tax laws affecting the companyResearch jurisdictional tax lawProvide guidance to non-tax functions regarding indirect tax requirementsParticipates/Assists in business unit tax and financial statement auditsIdentify/Support tax saving or risk mitigating opportunitiesImplement/Manage tax saving or risk mitigating opportunitiesIdentify/Support process improvements and systems enhancements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business equivalent is required5+ years of relevant experience Highly proficient and able to perform all responsibilities associated with the positionGrasps and applies new information quickly; handles more complex assignmentsShows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little directionLeadership and supervisory skillsIntermediate knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley audit and reporting requirementsIntermediate Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Intermediate technical knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)Intermediate technical knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)Proficient computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, Essbase, Hyperion and OracleIn-depth knowledge of all computer computerized Finance SystemsEffective written and verbal communication skillsModerately complex financial analysis skillsIntermediate knowledge of Long Term Accounting for Government contracts, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Financial Accounting Standards Board statements, Securitites Exchange ActIntermediate knowledge of revenue recognition and profit analysis concepts and techniquesHandles moderately complex assignments and multiple projects at onceshows initiative on assignments and professionally executes project with little to no direction For more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology has served as a trusted provider of information technology, systems engineering, training and professional services to customers across federal, state, and local governments, and in the commercial sector.
