The Maintenance Technician IV - HVAC is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HCC's HVAC equipment on the college's main campus. Duties include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and performing emergency repairs to various systems across campus, completing routine maintenance and equipment inspections; working closely with and training campus maintenance technicians; maintaining an inventory of parts; maintaining up-to-date service records on all campus equipment; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime) staff position reporting to the Coordinator for Facilities Maintenance. Routine work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm Every ten weeks this position works one Saturday, 7 am to 3 pm, followed by one week of 3 pm to 11 pm High school diploma or GED and three to five years of work experience with a Maryland HVAC license are required. A Master HVAC license is strongly preferred; Journeyman's license may be considered. Applicants must be comfortable working in a team environment with other maintenance technicians. Other requirements include: documented experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC equipment to include, but not limited to, boilers, air handlers, VAV's, unit ventilators, and split systems experience working in a commercial environment, including knowledge of Building Automation/Energy Management systems ability to read and understand blueprints ability to read, understand and follow OSHA workplace safety practices strong customer service and communication skills proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment with skills using Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet. Experience with replacing and working with, control valves, actuators, VAV's, and variable frequency drives is a plus. Overtime may be required in the case of an emergency, to be determined by the supervisor. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders and reaching; frequent handling of mechanical equipment; rare exposure to hazardous chemicals; and seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures. Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and have a valid driver's license with no more than three points in order to drive college vehicles. The successful applicant must be willing to obtain a Maryland State Pool/Spa Operator license within one year of employment. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
