Manager, Learning Design & Technology The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) is seeking a candidate who is experienced in the pedagogical and technical aspects of instructional design/technology to support the operation and expansion of live (face-to-face) and online programs. Reporting to the Director, Learning Innovation, this position will provide instructional design/educational technology expertise to bring adult learning principles and effective instructional strategies to ASAM's educational curriculum. You will support faculty with technology-enhanced instruction to promote learning technologies for both live and online courses. You will assess instructional design and development learning opportunities/needs and provide individual training and coaching for faculty to meet those needs. You will contribute to faculty development in areas related to teaching and learning strategies. This position will also utilize project management skills and lead the development and management of an online faculty management system to recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate ASAM faculty. The faculty management system will allow ASAM to manage faculty information, streamline the recruitment and onboarding process, and accelerate the training of course facilitators. In your first few weeks, you will spend most of your time getting to know your colleagues and gaining an understanding of ASAM's processes, available technologies, and current and projected educational offerings. Within your first couple of months, you will begin collaborating with the Director, Learning Innovation, on implementing a faculty management system, including the essential components of the system, customization needed to match ASAM's existing processes, and the major milestones in the implementation timeline. Within three months, you will have implemented the faculty management system and will serve as the primary point of contact for ASAM's faculty recruitment and onboarding process. ASAM is a fast-growing professional medical society representing over 6,200 physicians, clinicians, and associated professionals who are leading the movement to transform America's addiction treatment infrastructure and expand access to research-validated, results-based care in the field of addiction medicine. This is an important time to be joining ASAM. Landmark legislation, H. R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act , now provides significant resources in support of opioid use disorder prevention, recovery, and treatment. This funding allows communities to dramatically expand patient access to high quality, evidence-based, comprehensive care. Training, education, and standards are the keys to success, and ASAM is at the forefront of that work. Responsibilities of the Manager, Learning Design & Technology Instructional Design and Curriculum Development Design interactive learning content for live, blended, and online delivery. Conduct needs analysis to define learning objectives; design and develop training courses. Research and recommend best practices instructional and curriculum design. Implement and make recommendations on learning and technology strategies. Ensure training products comply with applicable guidance and regulations (SCORM, Sections 508 and 504, brand/style guides, etc.). Assist with content writing, editing, and scripting for online courses and related initiatives. Facilitate the maintenance and continuous improvement of ASAM's educational products. Coordinate course development activities with various ASAM departments to ensure quality, consistency, and a positive learner experience. Faculty Development Collaborate with the Director, Learning Innovation, in establishing an organizational strategy and a consistent process for recruiting and onboarding ASAM faculty. Lead the implementation of a faculty management system to recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate ASAM faculty. Once implemented, continuously explore ways to enhance the faculty management system to record and maintain faculty information. Serve as the primary point of contact for the ongoing maintenance and support of the faculty management system. Provide one-to-one training and coaching for faculty to meet instructional design and development learning opportunities and needs. Contribute to faculty development workshops in areas related to teaching and learning strategies. Other Responsibilities Manage and/or assist with vendor relationships, as needed. Handle special projects as assigned such as summarizing evaluations, following up with faculty, preparing tracking reports for the project grant, etc. Understand and adhere to ACCME and CME guidelines as needed. Manage and assist with other programs and projects as determined by the Chief Learning Officer and Director, Learning Innovation, working with department staff as needed on other education programs. Travel (1-3 trips a year) as needed for live faculty development and training, and/or to provide assistance and management required for the successful operation of courses.
