We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator, to join our team of DBAs responsible for the configuration, performance, maintenance and management of a large group of database systems consisting of SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2016.Areas of Responsibility include Work with the team members to Create, troubleshoot andor optimize performance of databases and database objects such as jobs, SSIS packages, queries, procedures, functions, triggers, indexes etc. Meet corporate, team and personal objectives as defined by management Ensure database backups are optimal and recovery is periodically tested. Ensure software updates and SQL Server patches are applied according to department requirements and any issues are communicated in a timely fashion. Upgrade SQL Server 2012 instances to SQL Server 2016 Importexport data using SSIS packages andor jobs as needed Review, Document, Implement and Monitor SQL Server STIG compliance Monitor performance and identify causes of deadlocks and long waits using limited tools. Troubleshoot issues including failover cluster quorum issues and the synchronization of databases joined to availability groups. Monitor jobs and Availability Group health with limited tools, troubleshooting, resolving and communicating issues. Participate in the deployment of applications and application updates that include the deployment or altering of databases andor database objects. Review database developer code prior to deployment actions. Update permissions as necessary while meeting STIG requirements. Required Skills Bachelor of Science degree, in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering preferred. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to perform configuration, performance, maintenance and management duties with limited tools Experience enforcing TDE and migrating TDE databases including TDE enforced databases within Availability Groups Experience with all types of backup and recovery using T-SQL, including backup and recovery of Availability Group databases with TDE. Extensive experience in troubleshooting database and SQL Server agent related errorsissues including but not limited to jobs. Experience troubleshooting database integrity, performance and connectivity issues as well as Availability group synchronization issues. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Always On Availability and Failover Clustering Experience Installing and configuring SQL Server software and components Experience configuring and troubleshooting SSRS Experience configuring and troubleshooting SSIS Experience creating roles, triggers, procedures, functions, maintenance plans, alerts and jobs Knowledge of indexes including maintaining indexes for optimal performance. Proficiency in T-SQL Proven ability to research and troubleshoot technical problems. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills Willingness to document departmental standards and procedures. Ability to monitor databases for performance as well as capacity management with limited tools Knowledge of applying software updates to SQL Servers that include multiple instances on multiple availability groups spanning more than 3 servers. Ability to work some off-hours and weekends as on-call or as maintenance requires. (On-call is on a rotating bases between all DBAs). Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to communicate via phone and email a must.
