Summary

This position is located in the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Office of Credit Union Resources and Expansion. This position serves as the Credit Union Examiner (Consumer Access Coordinator). The incumbent provides assistance and technical expertise to groups seeking to charter a new federal credit union or to secure share insurance for a new state chartered credit union.

Duty location is negotiable; however, Alexandria, VA is preferred.

Responsibilities

As a Credit Union Examiner (Consumer Access Coordinator), you will:
- Respond to requests from organizers seeking to charter a federal credit union.

- Review and analyze applications for new charters and share insurance applications for proposed or newly state chartered credit unions.

- Serve as a technical expert for a variety of stakeholders in interpreting complex aspects of NCUA's chartering policy.

- Act as a liaison between organizing groups and regional staff in the final stages of chartering and early stages of operations of a newly chartered credit union.
- Provide guidance and assistance in the development and review of Net Worth Restoration Plans for credits with

Qualifications

You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service in order to qualify for this position.

To qualify at the CU-13 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-12 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience: 1) analyzing financial statements and strategic plans to determine the economic viability of financial institutions or proposed financial institutions; 2) providing advice in writing and verbally to financial institutions or proposed financial institutions based on a review of their financial data.; 3) explaining regulatory requirements to a diverse spectrum of stakeholders; and 4) advising financial institution officials of the advantages of low-income designation.

Pay will be set within the advertised pay range to align with the selectee's skills and experience and the requirements of the position.

SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR) which does not include locality pay. Actual salary will be determined upon the location of selectee and the applicable locality pay, per the NCUA's CU pay table, will be applied. The 2019 locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the NCUA CU Pay Structure .
