  • Serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Branch providing direct support to field activities of the Defense Commissary Agency Area (DeCA).
  • Act as a technical advisor to Area Directors, Zone Managers, Store Directors, Heads of other DeCA facilities and additional duty security managers on matters pertaining to the development, installation, adaptation, and management of security programs within their assigned area.
  • Evaluate and/or analyze field-level vulnerability assessments, security related inspection and audit reports, congressional inquiries, applicable investigative reports; staff visits reports, and other assignments of command interest, which typically involve problems of outstanding difficulty, novelty, controversy, or sensitivity.
  • Serve as a field level Security Programs Manager under the supervision of the Agency's Security Officer.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Frequent temporary travel is required. Travel by military and commercial aircraft or land transportation is required in the performance of officially assigned duties.

Per , to qualify for this position, by the closing date of this announcement, you must possess the following:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 grade level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must be at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Implementing security policies, programs, and procedures which safeguard classified contingency plans, documents, merchandise, facilities and other assets against compromise, theft, sabotage, espionage, loss, damage, terrorism, fraud, waste, or abuse.
  • Reviewing procedures on throwaway salvage; on price reductions of damaged merchandise for falsification; operational instructions pertinent to all aspects of security to evaluate the effectiveness of the anti terrorism (AT); chemical, biological, radiological, Nuclear, and high yield explosive (CBRNE); critical infrastructure protection (CIP); operations security (OPSEC); personnel security (PERSEC), physical security (PHYSEC) and retail security programs.
  • Researching and recommending the use of a wide variety of complex, state-of-the-art, protective systems and devices consisting of barriers, blast protection, funds protection, intrusion detection system (IDS), closed circuit TV (CCTV), key and lock control, fencing, lighting and locking mechanisms, to provide maximum protection for facilities against theft, sabotage, forced entry, terrorism and to safeguard agency assets from internal and external pilferage, willful damage, or abuse.

(b) Time in grade eligibility requirement: You must have held a permanent appointment in the competitive or excepted service for a minimum of 52 weeks at the GS-11 grade level (or equivalent).
