Summary

The Budget and Finance Division of the District of Columbia Courts is responsible for using high quality financial and performance information to make and implement effective policy management, stewardship and program decisions.

Responsibilities

This internship is located in the Financial Operations Branch. The intern will assist with the following tasks:
  • Create accounting entries of cash receipts.
  • Conduct accounting analysis of Excel spreadsheets.
  • File accounting documents.
  • Review internal accounting controls.
  • Greet customers visiting the Financial Operations Branch.

This position is open for the fall semester starting August 2019.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree- seeking student.
  • Must have a GPA or 3.0 or better.

Qualifications

Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by immigration and Naturalization Services to intern in the U.S. and at least 18 years old.

Applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate program. Accounting majors are preferred but not required.

The student must be in good standings with their university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts' values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect and Transparency.

Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.

Education

To qualify based on education, upload copy of your college transcript or degree. The transcript must show the name of the college or university, your name, list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.

Foreign Education: Education completed outside the United States must have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials, commonly called a credential evaluation service or education to meet the above requirements.
