Summary

This position is located in the Corporate University, School of Leadership Development Faculty of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the area of instructional delivery of a broad portfolio of management and leadership courses, lectures and seminars for FDIC employees.

Responsibilities

-Provide leadership in innovative curriculum design and superior instruction that helps drive leadership excellence and culture shift in the organization, consistent with corporate values.

-Design, develop and instruct courses on appropriate leadership and management subjects related to the FDIC's mission and strategic plan. Design, development and classroom and virtual instruction on a broad curriculum will constitute over 50% of the incumbents time.

-Develop and deliver graduate-level lectures and seminars in the areas of strategic leadership, organizational change, organizational culture shift, communication skills, decision making, negotiation skills, critical thinking, creativity and innovation, and overall leadership/management best practices.

-Play a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of outreach activities and customized training related to leadership assessment and development, succession strategy, organizational change and transformation and other areas related to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's mission.

-Exercises independent judgment, in the training and development of internal leaders-as-teachers assisting in the instruction of leadership and management courses, and monitor, evaluate and provide feedback for the improvement of technique and overall effectiveness on an on-going basis.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. For Grade 13 and 14:

Basic Education Requirements: A degree that included or was supplemented by a major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as leadership, management or organizational behavior.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

In addition, to the basic qualification requirement, for the CG-13: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG/GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in leadership development, including design, development, and delivery of leadership course content, evaluation of leadership development programs, and collaboration on a curriculum development team comprised of other faculty.

In addition, to the basic qualification requirement, for the CG-14: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG/GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in leadership development, including design, development, and delivery of leadership course content, evaluation of leadership development programs, leading a curriculum development team comprised of other faculty; and overseeing the instructional activities of instructors.

1. Knowledge in areas of leadership and management curriculum development including training methodology, instructional systems, leadership assessments, instructor development and course implementation sufficient to provide guidance to senior officials in the transformation of their organization.

2. Skill in teaching adult learners in a creative, non-threatening environment using simulation, action learning and student engagement.

3. Knowledge of leadership competencies; decision making and negotiation skills and processes; critical and creative thinking; strategic vision and the management of organizational culture.

4. Skill in identifying and effectively evaluating alternative training and education program approaches and techniques.
