Responsibilities

  • Provides management information, advice, and assistance to the Command Group on any programs/projects assigned.
  • Serves as the action officer for special programs and projects, including the Commander's Town Hall.
  • Supervises administrative staff responsible for personnel, budget, and manpower actions for the Executive Office.
  • Determines training and development needs of assigned staff members.
  • Assign briefing topics to staff members based on knowledge of Program activities and key items of interest.
  • Schedules meetings and field trips for the Division Commander and for visiting officials.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing briefings based on completed research in order to brief division level commanders; serve as the primary action officer for special liaison with other Federal agencies and political bodies; provide managerial and administrative oversight to subordinates within the command staff of a division level organization; and synchronize activities throughout the command teams in order to maintain situational awareness at all levels of command.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
