Providence is calling an ExecutiveDirector of Children's Servicesto Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah, WA. THE ROLE The Executive Director of Children's Services provides operational leadership and management for Issaquah Children's Service at Swedish Medical Center. Participates in strategic direction development for the Pediatric Institute and oversees all operations, administration and finances for the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah. The executive director provides system level quality and practice oversight for all acute care pediatric services, including neonatal intensive care services and pediatric emergency. S/he is also accountable for creating a culture of safety by assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure quality and compliance with professional and regulatory standards. In addition, the incumbent also provides system-wide leadership and direction for the evaluation and implementation of Children's services in regulatory and accreditation compliance for Swedish. The Executive Director for Children's Services is a key member and active participant with Senior Leadership striving to achieve an integrated health care system that provides the highest quality health care in a fiscally accountable manner. S/he participates as a dyad leadership structure with the Program Medical Director for the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah Joint Venture, achieving mutually agreed financial performance goals for the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services. The Executive Director for Children's Services participates in such committees of Seattle Children's and Swedish Health Services as requested by the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah Joint Venture Board. S/he facilitates communication among the Swedish Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah and Seattle Children's. In addition to this, the incumbent will provide a liaison between the Medical Staff and nursing personnel in the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah. The Executive Director will coordinate, supervise, participate, and evaluate the training needs of physician and non-physician professional staff in the Swedish and Settle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah. Additionally, the Executive Director prepares annually, as requested, a report to the Swedish-Seattle Children's Pediatric Services, LLC Board, Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah Joint Operating Committee, and Swedish setting forth reasonable details of the status and development of the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah and its constituent programs. The incumbent will be expected to promptly complete all records regarding the program services required by the Swedish and Seattle Children's Pediatric Services at Issaquah or Swedish. Working with Medical Directors, Executive Directors, Managers, Senior Leadership, and the elected Chief of Obstetrics/Women/Children's Services in direct line and matrix relationships, this position organizes and directs activities of system nursing services to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective care for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. S/he will ensure organizational consistency in practice and standardization, and minimize fragmentation of services. With self-direction and the ability to multitask, this leader assesses the needs and patient expectations, collaborates with other team caregivers to set and exceed patient expectations, and delivers "best practice" to each patient and family members. Excellent communication skills along with the ability to interact positively and effectively with multi-departmental services teams will be essential for this role. In this position you will be responsible for the following functions: Marketing andBusiness Development Understands sources of patients and referrals. Leads in the design and implementation of strategies to maintain and grow market share. Financial Planning: Develops the annual Issaquah Hospital Children's Department budgets; provides leadership to achieve annual financial and productivity targets. Cost Effective Operations: Develops and manages resources to achieve operating efficiencies. Develops and manages operational benchmarks of efficiency and outcomes. Customer Service: Measures, designs and leads efforts to assure optimal customer satisfaction with services. Medical Staff Involvement and Communication: Develops and maintains a positive environment and ongoing communication with all key medical staff. Market Place and Industry Knowledge: Pursues information that keeps ED operations current with practice, management, and reimbursement trends in the regional and national market while implementing the appropriate response to opportunities and threats. Partner and Affiliate Relationships: Effectively collaborates with Swedish leadership to realize strategic patient care and business goals. Intra-organizational Relationships: Assures effective communication and coordination, as well as maintains positive relationships. Resource Planning: Identifies and coordinates facility, equipment, and system needs to maintain state-of-the-art technology and facilities for care and services. Change Management: Develops and leads a management team that plans and implements change in a positive manner, involving staff participation and input as appropriate. Strategic Planning: Defines strategic direction for campus in context of Swedish's strategic plan and works collaboratively with Swedish Leadership to assure congruent, seamless service offerings. Staff Development: Leads by example to assure an environment conducive to high employee engagement. Quality Improvement: Leads the achievement of strategic quality goals and regulatory standards with monitoring and improvement activities in all departments. Builds strong leadership culture by making effective hiring decisions. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications/experience for this position include: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. At least five (5) years of proven leadership in developing, managing, and operating high performing obstetrics services preferably in multi-institutional Children's Services. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Demonstrated excellence in achieving benchmark performance related to customer service and the caregiver engagement work environment/culture necessary to achieve the same level of engagement. Ability to be adaptable: responds effectively to constantly changing business needs, while retaining strategic focus and driving for long-term results. Knowledge of and demonstrated success in managing patient care operations. Ability to achieve goals in a working environment that uses multiple modulates of communication and computer applications. Expertise in verbal and written communication. Preferred qualifications/experience for this position include: A Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration. Current Pediatric Life Support (PLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications. Experience in working within a unionized environment. Knowledge of reimbursement practices.
