Job DescriptionSummary: This is a temporary (6-9 month in duration) part-time position with flexible hours. The primary role of the Database Management Specialist will be to handle technical coding and development of a work-in-progress, SQL server, proprietary database system which compiles information related to aviation flight and duty limitations, requested exemptions, flight crew performance and fatigue reports into a searchable resource for aviation and fatigue researchers. The Database Management Specialist will also be responsible for optimizing a fillable template for aviation regulation exemption requests based on previous submissions and facilitating ease of data upload and retrieval from the database. Familiarity with aviation industry is recommended but not required. Candidates should have expertise in Data Science, Database Management, Computer Science or a related field. Experience with SQL server and Adobe ColdFusion preferred.QualificationsPosition requires a combination of technical knowledge and experience specific to data/database management as well as project management.EducationBachelor's degree required.Coursework/experience in research methods, data processes and/or statistical analysis preferred.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's)Database ManagementTechnical background with preferred skills in Data Analysis/Integration, statistical software packages, electronic data acquisition programs and other IT platforms.Experience with SQL server and Adobe ColdFusion preferred.Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and scientific product-related information in a consultative manner.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Understanding of research concepts, methods and techniques.Project ManagementAbility to function autonomously to perform tasks associated with research, operational data, or safety program information pertaining to aviation safety requests.Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Additional InformationPosition may be applied to academic requirements such as capstone project, or internship for students pursuing degrees in data science-related fields.APPLY TODAY!
