Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a policy researcher with strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills to support our projects in social policy, including, nutrition and food assistance, labor, children and families, and veteran's issues.

Job Responsibilities:

· Taking a the lead role in conducting rigorous mixed-methods research including developing instruments, collecting qualitative data from interviews and focus groups, conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses, and preparing reports.

· Working as part of a team, but given latitude for independent decision making and requiring limited supervision.

· Supporting business development activities including writing section of proposals.

· Making contributions to peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

· A Master's degree in public policy, economics, sociology, or a related social sciences discipline with at least 5 years of experience and strong research skills demonstrated through relevant work experience.

An interest in public policy research along with excellent written and oral communication skills is essential. Candidates should also possess strong organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; be detail-oriented and work well in a team environment.
