Job Summary:

Westat is seeking an editor to serve as the editorial project coordinator for an education project development team and the education project Support and Service Center. You will edit and track a high volume of deliverables that require editing and, as needed, coordinating with word processing and graphics departments. The candidate will perform technical writing and editing for consistency, format, and use the education project style across print, web, and multimedia platforms; attend planning and status meetings; and monitor schedules to ensure that deliverables are responsive and timely while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality control.


Job Responsibilities in Editing includes:


· Field staff training manuals and ancillary materials.

· Magazines, brochures, and newsletters.

· Workshop materials, including agendas, role-plays, and exercises.

· User guides or reference sheets for various web-based systems

· International assessment materials and reports as needed.

· Distance and in-person training screens.

· Technical reports, annual performance reports and work statements.

· Confidential state program reviews and reports.

· Letters and other communications to local education agencies and public and private schools.


Basic Qualifications:


· A Master's degree in English, journalism or related field is required.

· At least 8 years of related experience is required.

· Experience with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat is required.

Familiarity with content management systems is a plus. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and have strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
