Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP's Washington, DC office is actively seeking a legal practice assistant to support up to five litigation attorneys. Duties will include a combination of complex litigation practice support as well as some traditional administrative responsibilities: Litigation Practice Support Skills and Responsibilities:Supporting outstanding client service through email, telephonic and in-person communications with clients.Word processing, formatting, and editing of litigation documents, including both civil and criminal pleadings, motions, discovery, trial materials, and appellate briefs.Knowledge of federal and state electronic court filing procedures.Familiarity with and ability to learn local court rules.Proofreading and reviewing all written work, including correspondence, memos, and court filings, for content, context, bluebooking, and typos.Handling court filings.Scheduling outside vendor services, such as court reporters and expert witnesses and developing relationships with trusted service providers.Calculating and calendaring court deadlines.Management of attorneys' client, court, and Firm administrative obligations and deadlines.Supporting attorneys' participation in outside organizations and sponsorship of client development events. Administrative Responsibilities: Scheduling meetings and conference rooms. Coordinating meals/refreshments for meetings.Assisting attorneys with compliance with firm billing and timekeeping requirements.Reviewing and editing client bills and ensuring conformance with client billing requirements.Managing conflicts checks, new client matter openings, and engagement and waiver letters.Managing attorneys' travel portfolios, including making travel arrangements, maintaining travel profiles, developing cost-effective travel solutions and calendaring travel.Answering and screening routine telephone calls per attorney instructions.Maintaining attorneys' bar and professional memberships.Handling expense reimbursements.Assisting with special projects as needed. Job Requirements: Strong technical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A college degree and a minimum of five years related experience in a mid or large-sized law firm is required. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and to demonstrate the highest level of client service and response.Extremely organized and detail-oriented. Understands deadlines and possesses a sense of urgency.Independent worker, ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.Demonstrates the ability to communicate in a proficient, tactful, and confident manner with external clients and coworkers.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Familiarity with electronic document management systems.Thrives in a fast-paced environment and welcomes responsibility.Values the efficiencies and benefits of working with teams.
