General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a senior network engineer to ensure the stability, integrity, and availability of the networking infrastructure and associated services. The position is involved with full life-cycle maintenance of a network infrastructure which includes incident response, capacity planning, testing, monitoring, performance tuning, enhancements, and integration of new services. The engineer must have the understanding and ability to implement and troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper products and services in a production environment using industry best practices. The position is in support of GDITs contract with the DISA Joint Service Provider located within the Pentagon and surrounding offices.RESPONSIBILITIES:A succesful candidate will be responsible for the health and maintenance of a large, complex networking infrastructure. This includes providing network administration and operational support to more than 8000 networked devices. The engineer will provide comprehensive network administration, security enhancements and remediation, and troubleshooting of network devices such as routers, switches, load balancers, WIFI, and VoIP. This position requires an understanding of best practices pertaining to network security and may require the development, deployment, and integration of network security services. Successful candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.Additional responsibilities for the position are:Provides problem and incident resolution, including dealing with software and hardware vendor technical supportDeploy and maintain network hardware, peripherals, services, and settings in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirementsPerforms daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of networking hardware, services, systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logsDocuments and conducts changes during ASI windowsProvides on-call troubleshooting and issue resolution as requiredDevelops and maintains installation and configuration proceduresCollaborate with the Security team to identify and remediate application and operating system vulnerabilitiesActs as a liaison with other groups to provide information sharing pertaining to the needs of the diverse set of computer users supported by the client as a whole.Develop scripts and other automation solutions to aid in the completion of migration and integration tasks.Review problems to understand the root causes of issues and ensure proper fixes are implementedProvides phone support to users during the time of peak demand as needed. BA/BS and eight years experience. Where a Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years' experience; or a doctoral degree may be substituted for three (3) years' experience. Four (4) years' experience (in addition to minimum experience requirements) may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. REQUIRED SKILLS:Extensive experience troubleshooting, managing and monitoring the health of Cisco and Juniper routers and switchesExperience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, ,MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environmentExperience managing Cisco Prime/Junos SpaceExperience with network security, including firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediationExperience using network management and analysis tools such as SNMP probes, network taps, and traffic analyzersExperience documenting network topology using VisioCreating and documenting processes and creating work instructionsExperience working as a part of a large team and working directly with customersExcellent hardware troubleshooting experience.Experience with supporting teleworkers and remote access technologiesExperience creating scripts to automate routine administration tasksStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong customer service skillsDESIRED SKILLS:Experience with NetScout, IBM NetCool and/or Solarwinds NMS productsExperience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting load balancers from a L2/L3 perspectiveExperience utilzing Remedy ITSMExperience administering and troubleshooting server operating systems such as Linux, Windows, or UNIX For more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology has served as a trusted provider of information technology, systems engineering, training and professional services to customers across federal, state, and local governments, and in the commercial sector.
