Role: Cloud Engineer Location: McLean, VA Schedule: 40 hours / week Overview: Apex Systems, the nation's second largest IT staffing and technology services firm, has an immediate opening for a Cloud Engineer to sit on-site in McLean, VA. Our client is looking for someone to join their new DOS Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. As part of the modernization program, the cloud engineer will work closely with the architecture team and the customer to design and implement hybrid cloud solutions utilizing commercial infrastructure, platform, and software as a service (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) offerings. Roles and Responsibilities: Work closely with the architecture team and the customer to design and implement hybrid cloud solutions Develop solutions integrating AWS and Microsoft Azure government community clouds with services hosted on premise and in other clouds Define and implement secure networking solutions between on-premise data centers and government community clouds Establish federated identity solutions between on-premise and government community clouds Define and establish secure cloud configurations, including integration with on-premise SIEM Analyze cloud service offerings for secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-native application hosting, data ingest, data storage, data analytics, and machine learning Define and implement cloud-based solution architectures Develop and maintain solutions supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) Install operating systems and application software in cloud compute environments Define, document, and implement procedures for backup of on-premise and cloud-based systems and data Monitor cloud-based systems and components for availability, performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and ability to meet non-functional requirements and service level agreements Support security audits, accreditation and certification processes, and obtaining approval to operate (ATO) for cloud-based system architectures Develop and maintain software solutions / scripts to support automation of cloud configuration and administration Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience At least 2 years' experience developing, configuring, and managing secure networking solutions to support communications between internal and external systems At least 2 years' experience implementing cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure Government At least 2 years' experience developing, configuring, and managing cloud-based systems supporting enterprise web-based applications At least 2 years of experience supporting security audits, accreditation and certification processes, and obtaining approval to operate (ATO) for cloud-based system architectures Azure PowerShell scripting expertise Agile development team experience Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing Preferred Qualifications: Experience implementing secure and scalable hybrid cloud architectures Experience implementing cloud architectures on AWS GovCloud Python/Boto scripting experience Experience implementing and managing DevOps pipelines for cloud-based workloads Experience using engineering environments and tools that support Agile Software Development, such as IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Sparx Enterprise Architect Scaled Agile Framework experience and certification AWS solutions architect certification CISSP, CCSP, and CCSK certifications Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience Qualifications: 5 years of related experience.
