SEIA is seeking a highly motivated Program Development Coordinator who is passionate about building the next generation of leadership in clean energy. The Program Development Coordinator will support the development and production of clean energy programs and conferences for SEIA and its educational partner, Solar Energy Trades Shows (SETS). This position provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to bring new perspectives to a growing number of solar energy and electric power events across North America.
The Program Development Coordinator reports directly to Senior Manager of Programs and State Initiatives and interacts frequently across SEIA departments and with external partners and subject matter experts within the solar energy and electric power industries. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of solar energy technologies and the renewable energy landscape, the ability to connect how policy initiatives impact market fundamentals, and will identify and seize opportunities to showcase the growth of clean energy deployment and the challenges we must overcome to make solar a leading source of new power generation in the 2020s.

Related duties include but are not limited to:
Work with staff across all SEIA departments to support efforts to create, deliver, and continuously improve industry-leading clean energy programs for all SEIA events, including Solar Power International, a top industry trade show that attracts 20,000+ attendees
Work in close coordination with content development committees to create conference agendas, identify session concepts, draft session descriptions, and track and recruit diverse speakers and subject matter experts
Research ongoing political, social, environmental and economic challenges that we must overcome to make solar a leading source of new power generation in the 2020s
Work with State Affairs team to gain expertise in state markets, monitor industry trends, and track and analyze legislative and regulatory policy developments around the United States that impacts clean energy deployment
Support efforts to effectively integrate Membership Development opportunities within programs and events
Other tasks as assigned

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate the policy priorities of SEIA, quickly digest new information about electricity markets, and being comfortable working in an environment with remote colleagues
The ideal candidate will have basic familiarity with electric sector concepts, governance, and current issues in clean energy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to manage challenging and diverse views of members
Self-starter – can work independently and remotely with strong desire to grow and succeed
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and able to perceive when to lead and when to build consensus
Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
