Position Description Position ID R2050 Location Rockville, MD Full-time with Benefits OVERVIEW Hendall Inc. has a requirement for an experienced Senior Training Content Writer on a multi-year training development contract to produce online training and other content for a large government healthcare agency. The successful candidate will have proven writing skills, be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, manage his or her assigned tasks on multiple projects in various stages of development, and collaborate with an instructional design team and subject matter experts to produce clear, concise training products that are appropriate for the intended audience. A background that has immersed the candidate in all facets of the training development process such as developmentally editing, storyboarding, and applying interactive learning and knowledge checks is highly desirable. The candidate will provide at least two recent writing samples that illustrate his or her ability to meet the described requirements. As well, the candidate will take a writing test as part of the consideration process. DUTIES As a senior content writer assigned to the training development team, you will Write training content as a member of a team of instructional designers, graphic artists, programmers, other content writers, editors, and documentation specialists to create online training products that adhere to the instructional systems design process. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) from healthcare fields to create technical training content. Content will meet instructional objectives and be written to a level appropriate to the target audience. Develop evaluation and testing instruments to reinforce learning. Provide feedback on the organization, design, interactions, graphics, and evaluation components of training products as they are being developed. Draft storyboards from narrative content, applying conventions developed by training team. Draft scripts for video projects. Edit a variety of materials for grammar, style, content, format, consistency, organization, and instructional efficacy. This may include developmental editing of work submitted by other content writers. Test online trainings to ensure functionality. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master s degree in English or related field, or combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Eight years direct experience, or combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office Suite and SharePoint. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to different style guides (ie, GPO, MLA, APA, etc.). Ability to work within a large training development team in a deadline-driven environment. Experience writing for the healthcare or medical field a plus. Information technology experience a plus. Hendall Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
