Greater DC Diaper Bank's (GDCDB) mission is to strengthen families by providing a reliable and adequate supply of diapers to families in need in the Washington metro area. We work with an incredible network of 40+ social service agencies to reach more than 3,600 families each month with the 175,000+ diapers and other baby and hygiene items that help keep children healthy in their early years. Founded in 2010, the Diaper Bank has distributed more than 7,500,000 diapers in the last 8 years. Greater DC Diaper Bank is hiring a Warehouse Manager to assist the Director of Operations in accurate, safe, and efficient warehouse operations. Working 30 hours a week, you will manage the physical space of the warehouse, implement an effective inventory system, and lead Diaper Distribution Days for GDCDB's Community Partners. In addition, the Warehouse Manager leads volunteer sessions and trains others in warehouse procedures. This position will work mainly at the GDCDB warehouse located at Warehouse: 8858 Monard Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20901 but also be expected to attend meetings at GDCDB Headquarters, 1532 A Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002. Essential Functions & Primary Duties The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain and develop a productive, efficient and organized warehouse that welcomes more than 2,000 volunteers annually Maintain an inventory system with fierce attention to detail that keeps accurate monthly records of both what is donated and what is distributed. Open and close the warehouse on a set schedule (or as needed) to accommodate volunteer shifts, distribution days, and other GDCDB events Load and unload trucks as donations are both received and distributed Maintain security of warehouse premises and equipment Ensure safety of all staff and volunteers through proper training in warehouse safety procedures and supervision during volunteer work shifts, reporting any accidents and conveying any issues to management Plan and coordinate the efficient storage and movement of all GDCDB inventory, maximizing the entirety of the warehouse capacity Operate pallet jack, forklift, rental truck and other warehouse equipment safely Lead Diaper Distribution Days 4-7 times a month, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the ordering process, scheduling pickups, and distribution logistics Lead multiple volunteer sessions on a weekly basis Other duties as assigned HOW YOU KNOW IF YOU CAN DO THE JOB: You have previous customer service experience and have demonstrated success working with the public You have access to a car, though a car is not a requirement You are proficient in operating pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment, including driving trucks 24'-26' You have demonstrated the ability to maintain highly organized records You have the ability to modify your work schedule and work varied hours, including some nights and weekends You are able to lift 50 pounds and stand for significant periods of time HOW YOU KNOW GDCDB IS THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU: You are reliable and a friendly communicator who reaches out and follows-up with professional persistence You are excited for the opportunity to work with GDCDB partner organizations who are addressing the unique needs of families parenting in poverty You regularly demonstrate strong self-motivation, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently You have awesome project management skills, with a knack for working backwards from deadlines and can deal with curve balls thrown at your work plan You have a keen attention to detail, a love of adhering to organizational systems, and take great satisfaction in a job well done HOW TO APPLY FOR THIS JOB: Candidates should email the following with "Warehouse Manager" in the subject: Current resume or CV A cover letter with: Salary range expectations and Available start date 2 professional references Persons with mental or physical disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act are eligible for this position as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodations are made to their known limitations.
