AHRI has a current opening for a Policy Analyst, Federal Government Relations in our Arlington, Virginia, office. The Policy Analyst, Federal Government Relations assists with and provides support to programs relating to all phases of federal advocacy. This is an entry-level role within the AHRI Government Relations department reporting to the Director of Government Relations, Federal Affairs. The Policy Analyst assists with and provides support to programs relating to all phases of federal advocacy. This is a professional position within the AHRI Government Relations Department reporting to the Director, Government Relations - Federal Affairs. Essential Functions of the position are as follows: Providing support and coordination to the Director, Government Relations, Federal Affairs. Working with AHRI Meetings & Events team to organize department events. Drafting website content. Drafting articles, letters, reports and technical documents on policy and public affairs issues for publication by AHRI or other entities. Maintaining and periodically updating grassroots database designed to target congressional members associated with AHRI member company plant locations. Position Qualifications are as follows: Education: Bachelor's degree in public policy, government affairs, political science, or a related field with a focus on US domestic (specifically, federal) policy. Work Experience: 3 - 5 years' related experience either through "real-world" work experience or internships in a trade association, or on "the Hill" in a public policy/government affairs department. Computer Skills: Proficiency with MS Office to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Competencies/Skills: Excellent communicator with the proven ability to write clearly and concisely in a professional style as well as clear diction and good verbal presentation skills Detail orientated, paying attention to the minute details of a project or task. Relationship builder; likable with the clear ability to build relationships and build coalitions with legislators, association members, and outside groups.Functions well socially. Planner and executor who can plan, organize and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and then successfully carry out the plan without significant senior management oversight.
