The Construction Inspector will have solid experience with the operation and maintenance of water and sewer systems and be focused on the condition assessment and inspection of buried sewers, oversight and quality management of pipeline condition assessment contractors, and operations support. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for field investigations and construction management and inspection efforts for water and sewer infrastructure projects the greater DC area. Responsibilities- Condition Assessment & Field Investigation . Buried utility infrastructure condition assessment . Oversight and quality management of pipeline condition assessment contractors . Startup assistance of water, wastewater, and related facilities . Troubleshooting pump stations and other related facilities . Field report preparation and project correspondence Responsibilities- Construction Inspection . Inspect Contractor work for plan, specification, and client standard compliance . Communicate with Contractor, Utility Design Team and the Public per project status, and address any concerns . Review field conditions, anticipate issues and coordinate with the Owner and Contractors per conflicts . Prepare Daily Reports and testing documentation Qualifications . Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or related area of study . 10+ years water and sewer industry experience . Understands the operation, maintenance and condition assessment of sewer collection systems and/ or water distribution systems and facilities . Skilled with underground utilities construction/ restoration inspection . Seeks one or more of the following: NICET, NASSCO (highly desired), Confined Space, Water /Wastewater Operator's license, DOT Materials Testing Certification . Understanding of asset management concepts (asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning) . Skilled with CMMS and GIS database software . Experience mentoring and training water/wastewater operators, maintenance staff/technicians and able/comfortable presenting information in a classroom setting .
