Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to join our growing team in support of a federal healthcare enterprise environment, including medical research and administration. This contract provides a full range of infrastructure support to a federal agency including server architecture design & maintenance, application hosting and administration, providing fixes & upgrade patches, and ensuring cyber security compliance protections. Responsibilities: Work hands-on creating, maintaining, and decommissioning servers running Windows Server 2012 and 2016 in multi-tiered federal agency on-premises and cloud environments Assist with OS patching in concert with applications team and system owners Administration of web and application servers including IIS and Apache Debugging application and server performance issues and, monitoring servers along with resident applications and providing/implementing solutions Installation and configuration of enterprise software Communicating with infrastructure, security, and agency leadership about work that is active, completed, and in backlog status 5+ years of systems administration experience with Windows servers Ability to work hands-on to install, configure & maintain Windows servers Experience with Active Directory Experience with IIS web server administration Understanding of server security and how it relates to applications security Familiarity with ITSM, SDLC, and DevOps Strong communication skills and a self-motivated attitude Ability to work with issue tracking software and independently resolve issues Desired: Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure administration Exposure to server management systems like BigFix or LANrev Exposure to server and application deployment automation systems like Jenkins and Docker Professional experience working in an enterprise data center environment with load-balanced, multi-tiered application infrastructures Exposure to server vulnerability remediation following agency, DHS, and/or DoD STIG guidelines including working with SSL, DNS, and cyphers issues Education: Undergraduate Degree (Preferred) or Equivalent One or more of the following certifications desired: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) ITIL Foundations certification
